Hadjar: "I'll repay Lawson, but not on the track!"

Liam Lawson deliberately slowed down the pace throughout the race in Monaco, allowing Isack Hadjar to make two mandatory pit stops without any problems, allowing the French driver to continue the race without dropping down the order.

The strategy also saw 20-year-old Hadjar finish sixth, his best finish of his Formula 1 career, while Lawson finished eighth, a career-best finish and his first points of the season.

Speaking about strategy, Hadjar stressed that Lawson did his job very well: "Yeah, he was good. He did a really great job. He did the slowing down part very well."

"He did the best he could and I think I thanked him enough."

"Of course, this is Monaco so it's not that hard to slow someone down. The hard part was coming up with the idea. The hardest part was that we both made it to Q3. If neither car was in the top 10, this strategy wouldn't have worked."

Hadjar was also asked how he would repay Lawson for his move.

"I'm not going to do anything on the track!" Hadjar said with a laugh.

When one reporter asked, "Could it be buying me a nice dinner?" Hadjar replied, "Yes, that could be something like that... But I wouldn't do anything on the track!"
